Cette fois, c'est officiel : la pandémie 2009-2010 due au nouveau virus grippal A (H1N1) est terminée. La directrice générale de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS), le docteur Margaret Chan, l'a annoncé mardi 10 août, suivant l'avis du Comité d'urgence réuni le matin même à Genève. L'OMS a aussi mis en ligne, mercredi 11 août, la liste des 16 membres de ce comité et la déclaration d'intérêts faite par six d'entre eux.
Jusqu'ici, seul le nom du président de ce Comité d'urgence, l'Australien John McKenzie, avait été rendu public. Ce qui alimentait les critiques sur le manque de transparence de l'OMS. Aucun expert français ne figure sur la liste.

"Le nouveau virus H1N1 a pratiquement cessé de sévir, a-t-elle indiqué. Cela ne signifie pas qu'il a complètement disparu." Il devrait adopter "le comportement d'un virus grippal saisonnier et [continuer] de circuler quelques années encore".
